Laundry soap
GANKO HOMPO – This is a great company with great products. Their soaps are all biodegradable. The 500ml liquid laundry soap is 2,450 yen. It may seem expensive, but considering you only need 5ml for a single laundry cycle, you can do 100 cycle! It has a subtle lavender aroma. Their products are animal-free and not tested on animals. I also recommend their cleaning brushes and sponges that requires no soap.
Sold generally at health food and organic stores. If you can’t find their products, you can buy on Amazon or Yahoo shopping.
Dish washing soap & cleaning detergent
MIYOSHI – This domestic soap company’s liquid soaps (laundry, dish, and hands) are all plant-based. None of their products are tested on animals and they do not believe in its necessity. Do not, however, buy their bar or powder soaps as they contain cow-derived fat.
Almost any local supermarkets have their products. If you can’t find in your area, you can buy on Amazon or Yahoo shopping.
Personal care
AVEDA – Their products are all plant-based except for beeswax in some of the lip balms and lipsticks, and they don’t do animal testing.
You can purchase from their online shop, Aveda hair salons or on Amazon or Yahoo shopping site.
iHerb – This is where I buy many of my vegan make-up, tooth paste, dental floss, lotion, lip balms and other personal care products. Vegan dental floss is especially difficult to find in Japan, so this is a great place to get all your essentials.
SARAYA – Their soaps are biodegradable and the company does well to promote “kind to environment and animals” image, however, for some of their products in the medical category are tested on animals when requested by the government or consumers. Do not buy anything from this company.
LION – It is stated on their website that they do not test on animals unless it is necessary by law to prove product safety or when it is unable to completely confirm product safely by alternative means.
